  • Best localization in the series, by 8-4 (who also did Awakening and Shadow Dragon).

Full voice acting, and top tier to boot.My favorite of the 3DS entries, and the only one I loved. I hope they'd go that route whenever they remake Fire Emblem 4, because I imagine the maps might feel outdated as well. The only problem with this is that it might not have been possible under the development time and resources they had for it since it could be a lot of balancing work depending on how much they tweaked them, but it could totally be possible for a re-release. If you want a bigger challenge you can simply avoid using Mila's Turnwheel.Įdit: Now that I think about it, they could have totally made two different game modes like on Starfox 64 3D. There's also no reason for a second playthrough besides choosing between two optional characters if that bothers you, but the difficulty is just right. Iirc, one of the characters could only talk to Sonya, and since she was an optional recruit, I never got any dialogues from her.

The lowest in the series perhaps? It was probably due to the voice acting, but I would have loved it if they had more, specially since in this title they aren't meant to end up in a relationship, so they provided more world/character-building like on the pre-awakening games. My only problem with the game besides the simple maps is that they really had very few dialogue options. I already loved the original and the remake improved it on it in many ways, even adding an epilogue that connected it to Awakening plotwise.Ĭertainly ended up better than what they did to Shadow Dragon. Kind like those chess games that don't let you use a move that would kill the king. I'm basically one of those that restarts the battle if anyone dies, so having Mila's Turnwheel was a godsent, as you could fix mistakes and actually focus on battle strategy. I can see it being boring as heck if you play on Easy or maybe even Normal (depending on your own skill level) and walk through everything without having to think. Do play on a decent difficulty, though you have Mila's Turnwheel to turn back time, and the game is definitely balanced with the intention of you not being able to solo it like you can most recent FEs. In Echoes, even the wide-open rout maps keep you on your toes, because the enemies are super rude and you have to manage a lot of tricks you wouldn't have access to in most other FEs (mass summoning, magic cast from HP, weapon skills, absurd-range bows, Warp/Rescue/Again as spells instead of staves) to pull through safely. While a lot of folks say its maps suck, they're not bad in the sense that, say, Awakening or Birthright maps are bad ie, they're not mindless. Easily the best presentation of any FE - even better than Three Houses, imo, thanks to the superior music, character art, and voices. So good I played it a second time all the way through right after finishing it the first time. My favourite FE of all time, and one of the top 5 best in the series for sure.
